Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

This policy covers the health information you keep in HelmLife's Health tab. It applies to everyone, wherever you live, and adds to our Privacy & Cookies policy.

What we collect

• Meals and their calories, and food photos you choose to have estimated (the photo itself isn't kept).
• Workouts, their minutes and calories, and the words you type to describe them.
• Daily steps and walking distance, if you connect Apple Health or Health Connect in the iPhone or Android app.
• Age, sex, height, weight, goal weight and activity level, if you use the calorie calculator.
• Blood pressure readings and lab results you enter.
• Daily totals, goals, points, streaks, and a history of changes to your logs.

Where it comes from

From you, as you type or photograph it, and from your phone's health app when you connect it. We don't buy health data or get it from anyone else.

Why we collect it

Only to show it back to you: your logs, totals, goals, trends, points and competitions, and the estimates you ask for. We never use it for advertising or marketing.

Your consent

• We save health data only after you agree, the first time you open the Health tab.
• Sharing it with other people is a separate consent, off until you turn it on. With it on, people in your competitions see your display name, points and daily calorie totals, and the global leaderboard shows your first name and last initial, your points and your weekly steps. People on a leaderboard with you can also tap your name to meet your companion (its level, never what you logged); turn that off for the global leaderboard with Hide companion. Meals, photos, blood pressure and lab results are never shared.
• You can withdraw either consent at any time in Health data & consent in your account menu. Withdrawing stops anything new being saved or shared.

Who we share it with

• People you choose, as above, and only with sharing turned on.
• Our service providers, who store and host it only to run HelmLife for us, and must protect it.
• Google (Gemini), only when you ask for an AI estimate: that one meal photo, or that workout description with your body weight, to work out the calories.
• When the law requires it, as described in our main policy.

We don't sell consumer health data, and we have no affiliates that receive it. It's never given to advertisers, data brokers or insurers.

Your rights

• See it: everything is in the Health tab. Ask us for a copy, or for the list of everyone we've shared it with, at the address below.
• Delete it: use Delete my health data in Health data & consent, delete single entries, or delete your whole account.
• Withdraw consent: in the same place, at any time.
• Appeal: if we turn down a request, reply to our answer to appeal, and we'll respond within 45 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
